Fair Trade Wall Hanging and Area Rug
As the Celtic population in Ireland grew new centres of trade and learning emerged. Founded by St. Ciaran, Clonmacnoise in Ireland, was one such centre. This particular design of interlacing human figures is from Clonmacnoise and has been depicted in the Book of Kells. It is said to represent bartering borne from the fact that the participants are obviously engaged in fierce negotiation. The interlacing in this hand tufted wool area rug and wall hanging design reminds us of the essential need for human interaction and the importance of fair trade.
This unique celtic area rug and wall hanging is based on the 8th century book of Kells, an ancient Irish manuscript which can be seen in Trinity College Dublin Ireland.
